an open source approach to manufacturing

All of the manufacturing equipment we use is open source because when we break our machines we want to be able to fix them too. Open source means that as the technology improves we only have to buy the upgrade instead of an entirely new system and there is no proprietary blend or special ecosystem of materials we are limited to use. What this means for you is working with a company that isn't afraid to take risks with new materials or approaches and that isn't going to try to pass on expensive equipment costs to your bottom line.

any material?

If the idea of using any material to bring your idea to life seems overwhelming we've got a starting point for you. Inventables provides a list of materials they sell on their website and we've created a summary of them below. This list isn't comprehensive of everything we can cut so if you've got a special blend you want to carve we are the team for you.

It's like stone if it was manufactured by DuPont. Because it is. Typically used to make countertops, bath tubs, mugs, etc.

Wood. Just any wood. If you bring us wood we can cut it. If you bring us wood that we can't cut its probably not wood.

If it's tough and made of plastic its probably made of ABS.
